  2. Server forwards order to the SMS Printer located in restaurant kitchen.
  3. Restaurant acknowledges/prints order and specifies optional delivery time.
  4. Customer receives email acknowledgement of order and expected delivery time.

Web Based Online Ordering

A complimentary 12 month subscription to the Takeaways Direct online web based ordering service is provided with your printer purchase, however Takeaways Direct is also available for purchase and instatation on your own server.

With Takeaways Direct you can avoid the time and cost of setting up your own website for online ordering. Simply purchase a printer, register, then upload your menu and let your customers know that they can now order online at takeaways-direct.co.uk [view demo menu]. It is also possible to setup your own domain name e.g. www.samstakeaway.co.uk which would redirect visitors directly to your menu on the site.

Your restaurant will also show up when customers enter a postcode in an area you cover or search by town / city for restaurants in their area. You will receive a login and password to update your restaurants details, opening/closing times and menu whenever you like [view demo login]

If however you already have a website, or would prefer to setup your own this is also possible. The printer is supplied unlocked, and can be reconfigured at any time. Sample PHP classes are available to facilitate simple two way integration with the printer.

Flexibility

The printer provides a large amount of flexibility to those with specific requirements. At the simplest level it is possible to just send one way messages to the printer. At the most complicated it is possible to set expiry times for messages, require restaurants acknowledge receipt of messages before they are printed, receive feedback from the restaurant relating to the message, e.g. a delivery time for an order (via HTTP post-backs), and remove messages from the print queue that have not yet been printed.

Features:

  • Choice of 3 different print modes:

    1. Print immediately, messages is printed straight away after being received.
    2. Turn on status light, and wait for button press before printing.
    3. Turn on status light, and wait for button press before printing, then wait for further button presses (e.g. press function 1 time for delivery 10 minutes, 2 times delivery 20 minutes, 9 times to decline order).
  • Support for a message expiry time, if this time is reached the message will be silently discarded.
  • Server can remove individual messages in the print queue (by message id) that have not yet been printed, or remove all messages from the queue at once.
  • Ability to respond to "pings" from the server to verify the unit is still turned on / operational.
  • Button presses (feedback from the restaurant) can be accepted by the printer independently of a particular message. e.g. for standing instructions such as restaurant opening / closing.
